Nearly five years after first ruling Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart, My Morning Jacket earns its second No. 1, topping the May 3-dated ranking with “Time Waited.”
The song follows the five-week reign of “Feel You” beginning in September 2020.
In between the two leaders, the Jim James-fronted band appeared on Adult Alternative Airplay twice, with the No. 6 hit “Love Love Love” and the No. 21-peaking “Run It,” both in 2021.
The rockers first made the ranking in 2008 when “I’m Amazed” peaked at No. 5. They boast five top 10s among eight entries; James also reached No. 20 solo in 2017 with “Here in Spirit.”
All of My Morning Jacket’s charted songs on Adult Alternative Airplay have been on ATO, to which the band has been signed since its 2003 album It Still Moves. The set sparked the act’s first Billboard chart appearance, when it entered the Billboard 200 that September.
Concurrently, “Time Waited” reaches a new No. 30 high on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart thanks to 1.2 million audience impressions, up 2%, in the week ending April 24, according to Luminate. It’s My Morning Jacket’s top-charting song on the tally, exceeding the No. 39 peak of “Feel You.”
“Time Waited” is the lead single from Is, My Morning Jacket’s 10th studio album. The set bowed at No. 16 on the Top Alternative Albums chart dated April 5 and has earned 20,000 equivalent album units to date. It also launched in the top 10 on both the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts.
