Mark Pitts has stepped down from his role as president of RCA Records and revealed the launch of Cofvnders, a multi-media management company that helped orchestrate Usher and Chris Brown’s co-headline tour, he announced on Tuesday (April 14). Pitts will maintain his relationship with the RCA/Sony Music family as a consultant, according to a press release.

“I’m proud of everything we built at RCA,” Pitts said in a statement. “I feel blessed to have played a part in shaping some of the most important careers in music, but even more importantly, in leading and helping guide the lives of young women and men. That’s legacy. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with RCA and Sony Music in a new capacity, while also feeling more energized than ever about what I’m building with Cofvnders. After more than 25 years in this business, to still feel this level of excitement is a blessing in itself.”

Pitt has also partnered with entertainment attorney and entrepreneur Tamayu Takayama to create the Tokyo Sound Continuum, a songwriting program that brings U.S. producers together with Japanese songwriters, producers and artists. The program is supported by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, a cultural body of the Japanese government, through the Creator Support Fund.

“Pitts plans to architect a long-term ecosystem designed to export Japanese talent onto the global stage, supported by a parallel network of top-tier international executives aligned with creation through release,” the press release states about the venture.
