Gorillaz has seen off competition from Olivia Dean and Bruno Mars to gain its third U.K. No. 1 album for March 6.
The band’s ninth LP The Mountain nabs the top spot on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart and joins the band’s 2005 album Demon Days and 2023’s Cracker Island as chart-topping albums. The Official Charts Company reports that with its 30,000 units in the opening week, The Mountain is the biggest independent release of 2026 so far.
The Damon Albarn-led group will appear as the musical performers on Saturday Night Live this weekend, with Ryan Gosling set to host. Earlier this week, it was announced the band will hit North American arenas as part of the upcoming tour; Gorillaz headline a night at the 62,850-capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in July.

Fancy That, PinkPantheress’ 2025 mixtape, rockets 173 places to No. 5 and comes as “Stateside” sees growing success following a remix with Zara Larsson. The song was also used as the soundtrack to a routine by gold medal-winning figure skater Alysa Liu at the Winter Olympics.
BLACKPINK’s Deadline EP debuts at No. 11 to give the K-pop group its third top 20 placing. The quartet’s 2020 debut, The Album, and 2022’s Born Pink hit No. 2 and No. 1, respectively.
