Rosé and Bruno Mars’ hit single “APT.” has been named IFPI’s biggest‑selling global single of 2025, capping one of the chart’s most competitive years to date. The collaboration made history on multiple fronts, becoming the first No. 1 single featuring non‑English lyrics and the first global single chart winner led by artists from outside North America and Europe, according today’s announcement.
IFPI credited the result to a coordinated global rollout that aligned radio, streaming and marketing efforts across regions, helping the track sustain momentum long after release and contributing to its 45‑week run on the Hot 100, where it peaked at No. 3. The honor also marks Bruno Mars’ first IFPI global single chart No. 1 since “Just The Way You Are” in 2011.
During the calendar year, “APT.” racked up 2.06 billion units, according to data published today (Feb. 19) by the IFPI, and including paid subscription streaming, ad-supported platforms, and single-track downloads.
“Rosé and Bruno Mars topping the IFPI Global Single Chart with APT. is a landmark moment,” Victoria Oakley, CEO, IFPI, said. “This year’s results also underline the global reach of today’s music market, with songs connecting across languages and borders.”
The year’s runner‑up was “Golden” by HUNTR/X, one of two songs from the animated film KPop Demon Hunters to make the chart, despite releasing mid‑year. The 2025 top 10 further highlighted the dominance of major collaborations: Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die With A Smile” finished at No. 4, while Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “luther” reached No. 8, both buoyed by strong international promotion. In a notable display of longevity, all five of 2024’s top singles returned to the ranking, with eight of the year’s top ten originating from earlier releases—reflecting sustained global investment in long‑tail hits.
Newcomer Alex Warren made an impressive chart debut at No. 3 with “Ordinary,” one of only two 2025 releases to break into the top 10. Other first‑time appearances include Gracie Abrams’ “That’s So True” (No. 9), sombr’s “back to friends” (No. 16), and Ravyn Lenae’s “Love Me Not” (No. 20).
Meanwhile, IFPI’s newly crowned global recording artist of the year, Taylor Swift, appears at No. 19 with “The Fate of Ophelia,” from her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl. Swift topped the global artist chart for the fourth consecutive year and the sixth time overall, extending her lead as the most dominant global artist of the streaming era.
