In comedy, the truth hurts — and Lizzo is hosting a showcase for the Netflix Is a Joke Fest in May, which will see her deliver a special set combining her musical and comical talents into a unique performance.
“I Got everybody & they mama on this show @netflixisajoke takes over Los Angeles May 4–10 Tickets on sale Friday, Jan 23rd @ 10AM PT,” Lizzo wrote on Instagram on Tuesday (Jan. 20).
It’s all going down the week of May 4 through May 10, as a star-studded lineup of acts will take over 35 different L.A. venues, including the Hollywood Bowl, The Greek Theatre and the Intuit Dome. Smaller comedy staples like The Comedy Store, Laugh Factory and Hollywood IMPROV are also part of the rotation.
Other musical acts slated to be involved include Jelly Roll, who will host the Beautifully Broken Comedy Night, which will see a headlining set from Andrew Schulz. Feid is teaming up with Marcello Hernandez for a night of Spanish comedy at the Hollywood Bowl, while Lizzo’s lineup recruits Nikki Glaser and Eric André.
There are plenty of stars on the bill as the week will see appearances from Adam Sandler, Bill Burr, Jon Stewart, Pete Davidson, Chelsea Handler, Shane Gillis, Sam Morril, Katt Williams, Tony Hinchcliffe, Seth Rogen, Matt Rife, Jerry Seinfeld and boxing legend Mike Tyson.
In addition to comedy sets and music, there’s going to be a series of episodes recorded for your favorite podcasts like David Letterman’s This Better Be Funny, which will feature an interview with John Mulaney and Martin Short.
The Boston Sports Guy, Bill Simmons, is also set to record an episode of his famed The Bill Simmons Podcast with Tires creators Shane Gillis, John McKeever and Steve Gerben. Other pods in the mix include This Past Weekend W/Theo Von, Pardon My Take and The Ryen Russillo Show.
Tickets for the various Netflix Is a Joke Fest go on sale starting on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. PT.
