Florida rapper POORSTACY, real name Carlito Milfort Jr., has died at age 26.
As confirmed by the Boca Raton Police Department, the 26-year-old rapper died Saturday after an “incident” at a disclosed address. Fans have flooded POORSTACY’s Instagram posts with comments implying that he died by suicide, but the cause of death has not been confirmed. Authorities were reportedly called to a hotel in Boca Raton on Saturday, and the rapper was taken to a nearby hospital.
A hotel worker in Boca Raton reportedly told TMZ that POORSTACY suffered a medical emergency on Saturday morning and was transported to a local hospital. The rapper had allegedly been at the hotel for 10 days. He is said to have checked in with a woman and a toddler, but none of this could be confirmed by Billboard.
The rapper started to gain traction with his blend of hip-hop and various genres of rock, including heavy metal and post-punk, which attracted the attention of Travis Barker and Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes. He collaborated with the latter on “Knife Party,” and made multiple songs with Barker. POORSTACY additionally released two studio albums with 10k Projects, the Elliot Grainge-owned label. POORSTACY was also on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for Bill & Ted Face the Music back in 2020, which included bands like Weezer and Mastodon.
The rapper dropped off his most recent song, “Nothing belongs to you.,” back in July. He also linked with Paris Shadows for the song “Last Time Around” in October.
