Mgk (formerly Machine Gun Kelly) now has a trio of No. 1s on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, debuting atop the Aug. 23-dated list with Lost Americana.
The latest set from the rapper-turned-rocker starts with 63,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending Aug. 14, according to Luminate. Of that sum, 40,000 units are album sales, good enough for mgk’s second No. 1 on the all-genre Top Album Sales list.
Lost Americana follows reigns for mgk via Tickets to My Downfall for 13 weeks in 2020 and 2021 and Mainstream Sellout for two frames in 2022. Both albums represented a departure for the artist to a more pop punk-indebted sound.
Lost Americana joins those albums as a ruler of Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums as well, and on the all-genre Billboard 200, the LP starts at No. 4.
Concurrently, 13 songs on the 50-position Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart are featured on the Lost Americana tracklist, paced by lead single “Cliche,” which jumps 23-10, returning to its peak, which it first achieved upon its debut in June. It earned 5.7 million radio audience impressions, 5.2 million official U.S. streams and sold 1,000 downloads in the week ending Aug. 14. It also re-enters at No. 79 on the all-format Billboard Hot 100.
The newly released “Outlaw Overture” follows on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs at No. 22 (2.9 million streams).
“Cliche” rises 25-23 on the latest Pop Airplay tally, tying the peak of mgk’s “Lonely Road,” with Jelly Roll, earlier this year. “Cliche” also spent six weeks on Adult Pop Airplay, peaking at No. 33.
