SUSPECT GETS A TRIAL DATE

THREE YEARS AFTER IT HAPPENED, THE MAN ACCUSED OF SHOOTING AND KILLING A TULARE COUNTY DEPUTY IS GIVEN A TRIAL DATE. IT WAS IN DECEMBER OF 2007, THAT TULARE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY KENT HAWS WAS SHOT AND KILLED WHILE ON PATROL IN A RURAL AREA….THE MAN ACCUSED OF THE CRIME 23 YEAR OLD JORGE BANDA, WAS ORDERED THIS MORNING TO STAND TRIAL FOR THE CRIME….THE CASE HAS BEEN DELAYED OVER QUESTIIONS OF BANDA’S MENTAL COMPENTENCY…HE WAS FOUND TO HAVE AN IQ OF 66…..AND THE JUDGE RULED THAT THE TULARE DA COULD NOT SEEK THE DEATH PENALTY….WITH THOSE QUESTIONS ANSWERED THE JUDGE  SET A TRIAL DATE FOR JANUARY…BANDA HAS PLEADED NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY…
