5)      Brief Description of Supplemental Recruitment Initiatives Completed During Reporting Period

  1. Internship program with Fresno State. Intern #1 from June 15th to September 2nd, 2011. Intern #2 from September 3rd to December 15th, 2011. Interns concentrated on three main areas of work (1) writing copy for commercials, promotional announcements, Public Service Announcement, websites, and social media (2) marketing the station’s through social networks (3) developing advertising campaigns. 
  2. Training program to enable station personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher level positions. October, November, and December of 2011, the company devoted resources to train a disc jockey on the computerized commercial traffic system. The goal was to teach the employee additional skills that could broaden the career path and qualify the individual for the position of traffic director.
  3. Mentoring program. As an ongoing project, the Director of Programming mentors a young employee with only rudimentary skills (board operator). Mentoring includes the instruction of new skills in computer automation, programming theory, computer music scheduling, and communication skills.

10)   Brief Description of Supplemental Recruitment Initiatives Completed During Reporting Period

  1. Training program to enable station personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher level position.  May and June of 2013, the stations invested time and resources to train a part-time board operator on the computer traffic system to qualify the individual for potential openings in the traffic department.
  2. Mentoring program for station personnel. As an ongoing project, the Director of Programming mentors a young employee with only rudimentary skills (board operator). Mentoring includes the instruction of new skills in computer automation, programming theory, computer music scheduling, and communication skills.
  3. List upper-level category vacancies in job bank whose membership includes substantial participation of women and minorities. Job opening posted to http://mcj.csufresno.edu/internships-jobs/ and https://csufresno-csm.symplicity.com/employers/index.php?s=home  These sites promote heavily to minority groups and are part of the university’s mission for diversity and inclusion.
  4. Participate in other activities designed by the station employment unit reasonably calculated to further the goal of disseminating information as to employment opportunities in broadcasting to job candidates who might otherwise be unaware of such opportunities. September 10, 2012 and September 11, 2012. Radio station tours given to Boy Scout Troops to learn how radio stations operate. Tour topics included future career opportunities in radio and the various employment positions in radio stations. August 1st, 2012, Director of Programming met with a representative of a faith-based employment program to discuss opportunities available to job seekers.   
  5. Participate in events or programs sponsored by educational institutions relating to career opportunities in broadcasting. On November 6, 2012, station owner spoke at Fresno State University’s Mass Communication and Journalism and Research department. Among other topics, career opportunities in broadcasting were discussed. July 15 – 19, anintern from California State University Fresno participated in an internship/job shadowing program. The intern researched topics for on-air segments, participated in the physical set-up and breakdown of remote broadcasts, had interaction with several station clients, and participated in the preparation of live radio broadcasts.
